EX-COM 2024-2025

Counselor
"Dear Gaveliers: It gives me immense pleasure to write a few words of motivation in this newsletter. At the outset, let me congratulate this Sri Lankan Orators Gavel Club which have completed 17 years and stepped into its eighteenth year. I feel proud now for having devoted my valuable time to this club, every Thursday evening to mould our younger generation to become effective communicators, public speakers and skillful leaders. SLOGC have created excellent speakers who reached Global Youth Championship level, leaders who have proved exceptional talents in leading various events, and also performing various other talents in social activities. Currently the club is full of fresh members who are following the footsteps of their predecessors and I am sure they also will achieve the highest level as they all have the potential to expose their talents. Gaveliers, for your personality development, for enhancing your confidence level and to achieve excellent leadership skills, this Gavel Club is the perfect forum. So please make use of this best opportunity and ensure your club is at the top level at all times. I also take this opportunity to thank our current President Gavelier Janeesha Senaratne and his talented team of officers for doing their best to maintain the club at its best. I wish you all, ALL THE BEST!"
DTM Ahmed Rizvi
President
"At the Sri Lankan Orators Gavel Club (SLOGC), we take pride in empowering young gaveliers to become the best versions of themselves, regardless of where they started. Through speeches, evaluations, and table topics, they construct a ladder to confidence, intelligence, and continuous self-improvement. Every Thursday meeting challenges gaveliers to face their fears, identify areas of growth, and acquire skills and habits that lay a strong foundation for their future. This program has touched the lives of millions across the globe, and the profound impact it has had on individuals is simply immeasurable. Serving as the president of this prestigious club has been nothing short of an honor. This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support and guidance of our Counselor, Distinguished Toastmaster Ahmed Rizvi, and the incredible gaveliers and officers who have been part of my Gavel Club experience. Each year I spent, each meeting I attended, taught me something invaluable: how to stay organized, remain patient, and remain composed in challenging situations. Most importantly, I learned how to speak—not just words but with confidence and purpose. Joining the Sri Lankan Orators Gavel Club has transformed me into someone I never thought I could be: a person who can stand in front of an audience and speak with elegance and self-assurance, without the constant worry of making a mistake. I would like to once again express my deepest gratitude to Uncle Rizvi, for believing in me, and teaching me how to be the person I aspire to be."

VP Education

Gav. Gevin Gamage
"Hello Everyone! I am Gevin Gamage and I am the Vice President Education of The Sri Lankan Orators Gavels Club. Being the club VPE, my duty towards the club is to deal with the club’s educational well-being. One of my main priorities for this term is to bring out each members’ talents to the spotlight. My adventure as Gavelier started just one year ago! Yes! Just one and a half years ago. Back then I was always shy. But then an ExGavelier introduced me to the gavel club. Now it's been almost 4 months being an officer. Even though I make mistakes there is always someone there like Uncle Rizvi to help me learn from those mistakes. I had many ups and downs during this term but thanks to all the Gaveliers and my fellow officers I am able to enjoy part of being in this club! It is truly an honor and privilege to be able to serve this club as an officer. I would like to convey my thanks to our counsellor DTM Ahmed Rizvi, Fellow officers, Gaveliers and also to all the parents who have been cooperating with all the officers. SLOGC is a place to learn; a place to develop; and most importantly a place where powerful leaders are made." “Leaders are made, they are not born. We make the leaders of tomorrow."
VP Membership
"Being the Vice President of Membership for SLOGC has been such an exciting and rewarding experience so far. Every time I think about my journey in this club, I’m amazed at how much I’ve grown. From the first time I joined, I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many inspiring people, each of whom plays a part in making SLOGC such a special place. One of the most fulfilling parts of being VPM is helping guests transition into becoming full-fledged members. It’s incredible to be a part of their transformation, watching them go from a little nervous at their first meeting to gaining confidence and truly thriving in the club. I also really enjoy collaborating with my fellow officers—working together as a team has made every challenge much easier to tackle. We all bring something unique to the table, and I’m so proud of how we continue to support and motivate each other. As I continue in this role, I’m looking forward to meeting more new faces and helping every member, both new and old, reach their full potential. Together, we can make our journey in SLOGC even more amazing!."

Gav. Sehari De Silva
VP Public Relations

"It has been an honor to serve as the Vice President of Public Relations for this prestigious club. As of now, I have created themed related flyers for each meeting, managed the SLOGC social media, introduced new guests to our club, and prepared two newsletters. My experience as an officer has taught me many valuable lessons. Throughout my time as a Gavelier in SLOGC, I have developed many skills, such as responsibility, confidence, leadership, and time management. I am looking forward to learning a lot more. In particular, I would like to highlight the continuous support I receive from the gaveliers, officers, and our counsellor, DTM Ahmed Rizvi. He is always there to help us whenever necessary. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have been given so far. Moreover, I’m thrilled to see what the future holds as I continue with this role as the VPPR!"
Gav. Ranthuli Abeyrathne

Gav. Thenulika Agalawatta
Treasurer

"When I first joined SLOGC, I never imagined how profoundly it would shape me—not just as a speaker, but as a leader and a person. Taking on the role of treasurer challenged me to grow, teaching me the power of teamwork, mentorship, and self-improvement. Toastmasters has given me confidence, critical thinking skills, and a platform to refine my communication. The supportive environment at SLOGC pushed me beyond my comfort zone, helping me embrace feedback and continuously improve. I am grateful to be part of this dynamic community. Thank you, SLOGC, for your guidance, support, and the friendships that make this journey so rewarding."
Gav. Mavith Perera
Sergeant @ Arms
"As the sergeant at arms for this prestigious club, I am honored to have been given this position. I will ensure that everything in the meeting goes smoothly and I promise to be an asset to this outstanding club in the future. It is my responsibility as SAA to arrive early, prepare everything, start the meeting on time, take charge of the refreshments and be in charge of the decorating committee. So far, it has been an amazing experience. I’m grateful for having the opportunity to be an officer. I would like to thank the gaveliers and DTM Ahmed Rizvi for believing in me."
